My Personal Page
Hello and thank you for visiting my 2024 fundraising page. Please click "View More" below!
Last Memorial Day many patriots across America stepped up and supported our nation's heroes through non-profit Carry The Load. I'm asking you to help build upon the progress we've made.
This year, the focus of my fundraiser will be on our younger heroes… Military kids!
In an effort to have a more direct impact, I’ve partnered with the Comfort Crew for Military Kids.
CCMK is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to deliver proven resources to help military kids and their families connect and build resiliency in the face of extraordinary challenges. Children growing up in a military family will experience many transitions, and learning how to manage those transitions is critical. All children have the capacity for resilience, to turn challenges into strengths, provided they are given the support they need. The objectives of this program are to deliver resources that will increase communication within families, teach kids how to understand, manage, and express their feelings, and let them know they are not alone.
The Comfort Crew is best known for its Comfort Kits to support military kids dealing with deployments, reintegration, injuries, and loss. These Comfort Kits are requested by and shipped directly to the families free of charge. Each Kit includes a set of strategies to facilitate coping:
- Journal with prompts and space to write, draw, and express feelings
- Caregiver Guidebook that contains useful information for parents
- Access to an animated movie highlighting common challenges
- Plush animal (Cuzzie the Bear or Coco the Mouse)
- The Deployment Kit includes a set of dog tags with the message “With You All the Way!” (one for the child and one for the parent deploying) to help families feel connected
CCMK also supports a nationwide school-based program, the With You All the Way! Tour, on and near US military bases around the world. The presentation, led by CCMK Co-founder and best-selling children's author and illustrator, Trevor Romain, helps kids to become happier, healthier, and more confident. Over 350,000 military children in 16 different countries have attended the Tour. The presentation shares vital, upbeat messages that emphasize peer-to-peer support and developing life-long strategies for dealing with transitions and the unique challenges of military life. The focus is on military children, however during visits to off installation schools, the program also seeks to educate civilian children about the challenges their military-connected friends face and how they can provide meaningful support.
These programs provide the additional benefit of comfort to the men and women in our armed forces, as they see the positive impact on their kids lives.
Over Memorial Day Weekend, I will "Carry The Load" by embarking on a ruck (basically traveling a long distance with a weighted pack) with the specific intention of supporting our nation's heroes.
Please consider a donation to offer support to our nation’s military kids, who sacrifice and endure for our country.
God Bless America.
Thank you so much - Ry
