I am honored to "carry" my Grandfather Wayland E Causey this Memorial Day once again along with other friends who have lost loved ones while serving our country. Seaman 1st Class Wayland Causey served as a U.S. Naval Armed Guard during WWII. He was killed at Port Chicago, California while loading munitions bound for the Pacific Theater onto the SS E.A. Bryan. A munitions explosion ripped through the town, killing 320 sailors and injuring 390 others. It was the largest domestic wartime disaster in American history.
Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing active ways to honor and celebrate our nation's heroes by connecting Americans to the sacrifices made by military, veterans, first responders and their families.
I plan to participate with my brother, family, and friends in the Memorial May events to remember, honor, and celebrate our nation's heroes by participating in the event and fundraising. Join our team "Una Stamus" led by Brent and Yvonne Freeman - which stands for "we stand as one"! Make a small or large donation - each one is significant. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for joining us on the journey!
